What is Baptism?<\/h2>\n

The word \u201cbaptism\u201d comes from the Greek word <\/span>baptizo<\/span><\/i>, which means to immerse or dip. The word was used for pickling vegetables, or for dyeing fabric. Both of these result in a permanent change. When we are baptized, we are baptized into Jesus. The water symbolizes that he cleanses us from our sin and raises us to a new life in him.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At LifeChurch we normally use a baptism tub for baptisms, but we have also baptized people in swimming pools, rivers or even the sea. Standing waist deep in the water, we first ask the brother or sister to confirm their commitment to follow Jesus. After this, they are fully submerged under the water for a brief moment as they are baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Baptism at LifeChurch is a joyous event, a celebration of what Jesus is doing in a person\u2019s life!<\/span><\/p>\n
